Newark Air Museum  31 January 2015  David Thompson

 

Having only last visited the museum in September I didn’t expect many changes and I wasn’t disappointed in that respect either . I was there to attend a meeting of the British Aviation Archaeological Council with the extra carrot of free entrance as a BAAC member being too good to miss ! To side track slightly , for  anyone with an interest in aviation archaeology then the BAAC is to be recommended and with membership currently at only £12-50 per annum inclusive of a quarterly magazine , and frequent free entrance at similar museums to Newark , then it becomes a must especially for Newark which has many items of aircraft wreckage collect from high ground crash sites on display ! Apart from the arrival of the Dominie the only other significant change since my last visit is the departure in January of Canberra PR7 WH779 nose section to AeroVenture at Doncaster . Also worthy of note is that there are examples of a Link Trainer

Type D2 in each display hall plus large sections of aviation archaeology related items in Aircraft Hall No1 .
