The museum was closed but it had been host to a
concert the day before and after telling the owner we had driven from the UK
he said we could have a look around but we had to pay the 4 Euros to get in,
"No problem" we said

the owner to clean up, What a mess we were glad we were not doing it. On the
road to Altenburg next for another museum this time a small one with just 3
aircraft
Altenburg 13-07-09
Everything here can be seen by driving up to the

(401) Mi-2 (Police c/s)
(742) MiG-21 (Ex 22+27)
D-EOCN Z-37
The MiG-21 in the old housing area of the base
has now gone we looked for it for about 30 min's or so and decided it had to
have gone. And a look for another MiG-21 in the shelter area proved
fruitless as well, We departed. The next museum was Rothenburg which is only
meters from the Polish border but to get here it was not far to call at
Dresden airport for a look at the two Mig,s preserved there
Dresden 13-07-09
A large airport with lots of hangars and poor
views (But that's all we found), A five minute look here found what we were
looking for so with these two in the book off we went again
218 MiG-21
601 MiG-23
And
DDR-SAL VEB-14
And seen on the active ramp

We left 4 euros each near the pay booth i hope
they found it as they were so kind to leave the museum open for us
We had the third member of our crew flying into
Berlin Schonefeld this evening on Ryanair from East Midlands so setting sail
for Berlin we worked out we would pass Welzow and its MiG-21 so a quick look
was made
Welzow 13-07-09
Yet another ex military base with lots of HAS's,
We drove around and did not see a thing. Just as we were giving up a guy in
a 4x4 turned up and we asked him, He turned out to be the president of the
MiG owners group and told us to follow him to the HAS the MiG is kept in (To
say we would have not found it by our selves is an understatement !)
705 MiG-21
The MiG is kept in the HAS and is in VERY good
condition, Many thanks to the guy with the 4x4

a hotel some food and a few beers as usual

included a look at the storage hangar normally not open to the public a
prior arrangement had been made for us to visit it
