Teesside International Airport

A Definitive Timetable

As a new project and just a bit of fun, we're going to take a look at which variations of each type of airline operation was the definitive example of its kind from Teesside. The eventual goal based on our findings is to build two fictional timetables, one "idealistic" ignoring operator/aircraft availability and a second "realistic" to see how much of the first might be achievable in the current marketplace, providing of course this can be done without breaching our no-conjecture policy.

Judged on longevity, consistency and balance, here is the best of what's left!

Considerations

  • One off ad-hoc charters have not been included, at least with Lapland and Ski charters you can pin-point them to December, whereas others could take place any time of year to a whole host of destinations and would be too hard to track down.

Ad-Hoc Charters

Lapland

In addition to the below Kittilä seems to be the primary Lapland destination despite us having not had any services here.

Lourdes

With little-to-no parameters to explore, Lourdes is definitive by default. Assessing the information on our existing Lourdes page, it seems two annual charters falling on the same date is the definitive format, with British World Airlines BAC 1-11s the most frequent type/operator combination - *but* two BAC 1-11s would fall short of the usual capacity on the service, so we'll go with just one of those, and for the other a Titan Airways 737 given they'll likely catch up to B.W.A. in future!

Short Breaks

To attempt to trace every one-off charter we've ever had would be futile, we'd miss too many, and the truth is they are all definitive. Off head, we've had short breaks or fly cruises to Akureyri, Antalya, Barbados, Madeira, Milan, Naples, Northern Lights, Pisa, Rimini, Seville, Venice and Verona to name just some, and the truth is if we were to gain one of each in the same summer we should be filling them as one-offs.

For the definitive timetable we've chosen Akureyri and Seville because they sold particularly well, then Milan, Naples and Verona because they are the most common.

Ski

Chambéry and Innsbruck are two other viable ski options even though we've never had any flights there. Geneva is arguably the primary ski destination, it is covered in the definitive low cost winter programme.
