Montpellier and airfields en-route Dave Rose 23/7/12 - 26/7/12

I was looking for a different destination for a break in the sun, without the hordes on the Costas, I came across a new route with Ryanair from Leeds to Montpellier which looked appealing. So booked it, packed and off to LBA we were, nothing interesting here and off on time on EI-DHD ( looking grubby!!) arriving 1 hr 45 minutes later at a sunny Montpellier. The sky was clear all the way and I managed to get shots of airports en-route (see below)

Montpellier airport is a typical French regional, with services by Air France in the main along with Ryanair, Easyjet, Air Arabia Maroc, Volotea and Transavia. It lies on quite a busy airway so the Airnav came in useful for overflights when lying by the pool. Marseille is only 50 miles away so traffic is descending or climbing and difficult without trails!!. Latecoere have a technical and storage facility at the northern edge of the field, with some A320s parked up and there is a preserved Mercure and Nord 260 on display on the field. GA is busy and use a parallel runway to the west of the terminal building.
