Day trip to Lossiemouth for Joint Warrior exercise 15 April 2012 - Ade Hairsine

A long day trip to RAF Lossiemouth last Sunday for the P-8 and others on the Joint Warrior exercise got this lot in the log book, A 01-00 departure from home for the long overnight drive North thought the Rain, Sleet and Snow as we climbed the hills on the A90 heading North, The first call was a drive-by view of Inverness airport from the A96.

A quick look at RAF Kinloss next saw, We were a little early in the day to see the based Vigilants

How different things look now, The only aircraft we saw was a sole preserved Nimrod stood out on the field

Nothing moved while we were there and we waited an hour or two hoping the French Navy Atlantique's would turn up but alas they did not so to entertain ourselves we logged the aircraft present and visited and small GA field to the South near Elgin

The two hangars here both opened up for us and we found the items we were interested in, The based Chipmunk (G-BCSA and not req'd) was away on service for the summers flying as the based glider tug
