Manchester 27th December   Dave Rose / Aidan Williamson

A day out was needed so we headed for Manchester, the weather en-route wasnt good but improved once over the Pennines. We had a quick scan from the MSCP then headed to the "temporary" viewing area for 23R, to get there go past the Tatton Arms and turn right at the lights. Turn right into the long term car park and right again at the barriers onto a dirt track. This is rutted and wet so be careful as the puddles are deep!!! You can also get here by turning right into Moss Lane, parking up and walking. The mounds are shale and high so excellent for threshold shots and approach, you are basically opposite the Airport Hotel so good till 3pm.

Traffic was steady, Emirates are now triple daily, Etihad and Qatar twice daily along with the usual european stuff. Most remote stands were full so its a good time for any stragglers. Highlights were the newly painted Privatair 757, Flybe EMB175 and an Avanti on delivery from the states to Italy (plotting). Anyone with SBS will get a few flyovers here as its a crossroads.
