Venice Break 25 July 2010 - 29 July 2010 Rob Smith

The stage was set for a first week of the summer holidays break to Venice, and what a fantastic city! My flights were booked with jet2 just a few weeks before however I still thoroughly enjoyed them. Takeoff was perfect from Leeds with my aircraft coming straight out of the Hangar!

My first flight into Italy had a bit of a bumpy landing however provided great entertainment whilst we waited for a Baltic 737 to taxi, the approach was fairly simple down and past the airport and up the lagoon passing venice on the right hand side (very scenic landing)

The time had come for me to return home and with that the chance to have a good look at Venice Marco Polo, torrential rain and thunderstorms restricted me to the terminal though (I was NOT getting wet under any circumstances!!) however it was well worth a look and the return flight gave me a great opportunity to experience turbulence, a whole 10 minutes from takeoff!

It was now time for the return back to the UK, and with thunderstorms all around Venice it was slightly exciting for somewhat a thrillseeker! Heavy Turbulence for 10 minutes solid, and with people scared of flying sat near me well what can I say? Once back at Leeds just a few things were noted.

All in all a successful trip 57 aircraft seen, not too bad for a family holiday to a very nice city, well worth a visit maybe not too much for spotting.
