Another European adventure kicked off last month with the
usual departure from York heading South East toward the Czech Republic for some base tours and anything else we could
get in on the way out and back. We did a none stop drive (Except for the Channel
Tunnel) to Brussels where the first stop was made and at last something was seen
that we could put in the log books.

The next stop was another MiG-21 that has moved from a town we were going to
visit on out last trip out in the Netherlands so a little "Tiding Up" was done

Day 2
After leaving the hotel early we made our way to the military range at Lehnin
South West of Berlin for an "SGT" (Self Guided Tour) looking for the four
aircraft that live there

Only the two aircraft were found the other three a Mi-2 a G-91 and another
MiG-21 had either been moved around the range or have departed the area. Now
moving South towards the Czech border we more or less passed Borkhide a few
miles from Lehnin and to be found here are 3 preserved aircraft

The MiG-23 sits in the owners gareden and were wer invited in to take photos and
meet the family, Thank goodness there was no Vodka involved i don't think we
could have made it out of there if there was

Luban was next and in the town is a military barracks where an ex Polish AF
An-26 is used to train Police and Military dogs how to use the noses to sniff
out and find drugs and explosives etc

The last call of the day was for an Mi-2 in a museum which is guarded by a large
fast and not very friendly dog, The good news is you can see the Mi-2 from appx
300 yards away as its in the museum at the side of a road but if you want a
photo look out for the dog he moves quietly and very fast

That one rounded the day and we headed for a hotel still in Poland but not far
from the German border so we would be "On Point" for the next morning
Back with day 3 and the short drive out of Poland to
Rothenburg in Germany and third time lucky as we had tried in the past twice in
the past to get here during work hours and failed but this time were were on
point at 08-30 and with a little help from a German guy who made a phone call
for us we got in.

Back into The Czech Republic for a wreck and relic day

A tour of the facrory was granted a few weeks before departure but one request
was made by Aero Vodochody nothing can be put on the internet, so only things
that could be seen from the outside are in my log still standing behind the
reception area

trains the parachutists, Some times * IF * the guys on the gate feel like
phoning the base boss up for permission to access into the hangar they will

Day 4
Today was the first of the base tours that had been arranged and we had two
today so only 3 places were visited after these two. The other four guys arrived
shortly after us in their hire car and and we went to book in at the gate

A HAS base tour is never going to be good as 9 times out of ten the hosts don't

A long awaited tour here for the training wing of the Czech AF, Lots of
different types based and its quite a busy base. We started in the main hangar
