Austria etc. "It's the wrong trousers" 26-29 June 2009 Ade Hairsine On to page 2
Back again after
yet another good trip out into Europe, The trip was centred around an air show
and base tour (or two sort of) and was driven instead of the usual "Fly
Drive". We set off a week last Friday and drove thought the night only calling
at Brussels during the dark hours of the night for a quick look at the Abalag
area at the airport but when we called at a service area for a Coffee on the
E-40 near Oostende we noted a Gyrocopter on a car trailer.

This was been towed by a Slovak registered car, Has it been sold ?

A very nice
modern museum with everything inside and very well presented, the museum was
closed at the time of our visit but the building has an all glass front and
viewing the contents is very easy. The web site is
www.f-104.de . Noted here were
"425" 22+77 MiG-21 Real id
1874 MiG-21
"22+30" F-104
Real id 24+49 and is a nose section only
23+73 F-104
26+53 F-104 No

??+?? F-104 Nose
only in Grey
25+05 F-104 was not noted but is in EMOOS so has it gone or is it the nose
section above ?
Back on the road and still going South East until at last we made it to the
air show, Zeltweg in Austria was the target and we arrived around 10-30 not
a bad time to get down to this part of the world by road.
Zeltweg Air Power 2009, 26-06-09
It's the third time I have done this show and it has proved to be good each
time in the past with a lot of Austrian helicopters and aircraft, This show
was not as good as the past one,s (Only my opinion) it seamed to lack
foreign visitors the credit crunch may be to answer but never the less there
were a good number here to look at and log. Now the reason for the name of
the trip, Andy had come from work and had not got changed so he was in his
work suit and had not put any shorts or jeans in his bag so was walking
round the show in Ben Sherman suit trousers, Trainers and a t-shirt was the
dress code for the day for him so "It's the wrong trousers" trip name was
born and a few good laughs were had at his expence.

Next a disused airfield (By the AF any way) and another MiG-15

The MiG here was seen from a Crash gate near the end of the runway but it
was not in sight when we visited, We were told it was in a HAS but only two
trucks were seen here, Next time for this on me thinks. A thought is, Were
we at the correct end of the runway ? but the GPS said we were. Who knows ?.
This ended the day and it was off to the hotel for the usual beers, fodder
and kip
