Tees-Side Photos 1978

Photos taken at Tees-Side Airport between 1st January - 31st December 1978. Click on a thumbnail for the full size photo. Mar 78? RP-C101 Lockheed L-100-30 Hercules Philippine Airlines Delivered in May 1975 it became 4593 with the Air Force in July 1983, it subsequently crashed into the sea on 25 Aug 08. I saw the aircraft at Teesside on 02 Mar 78, this may have been when the picture was taken, though I'm not sure if it made a few visits around the time. It visited from Cambridge on 02 Mar 78 to collect outbound cargo for the Far East. Parked up all the next day it finally left for Istanbul early on the 4th.	Mar 78? 04 Jun 78 OO-TEF Airbus A300B1 Trans European Airways (TEA) Delivered in Nov 74 it was stored at Brussels in 2000 where it remained for 13 years before being broken up in July 2003. This was our first A300 visit on an early morning flight from Lourdes	11-14 Aug 78 XT273 or 278 Blackburn Buccaneer S2B Royal Air Force - 237 OCU	12 Aug 78 WF791 / XH304 Gloster Meteor T8 / De Havilland DH115 Vampire T11 Vintage Pair	12 Aug 78? XR993 Folland Gnat T1 Royal Air Force - Red Arrows Aircraft W/O Shreveland 09 Jan 91.

XH304 De Havilland DH115 Vampire T11 Vintage Pair	1978? CF-CPT Douglas DC-8-55 CP Air This aircraft had many operators as a freighter finally resting stored at Kinshasa as 9Q-CAN.

G-ASPL Hawker Siddeley HS.748-2A Dan Air First delivered in April 64, this was almost a resident in the mid 70s, flying the then busy oil routes to Scotland. Aircraft crashed on 26 Jun 81.	1978? G-DUKE Beech B60 Duke Former resident became N6779S in 1982 last known to have flown in 1993.
1978? G-FJGC Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftain Air Anglia It left the UK in 1980 to the USA and last believed to be operational in Canada.	1978? N48075 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15 British Midland Airways First delivered to KLM in Nov 66 as PH-DNF it was sold to Southern Airways in Jan 78 and leased to British Midland the following month remaining only for a short time until 14 Jun 78 when it returned to the States. It was scrapped at Sherman-Grayson, TX sometime after August 92. It first visited Teesside on 20 February 1978, it made its first Heathrow service the following day. BMAs first DC-9, N65358 was in Amsterdam for some certification work prior to allocation of its British reg G-BFIH. N48075 op all subsequent Heathrow flights except weekends which were Viscounts, until 09 April 78.	1978? SP-LSF Ilyushin IL-18E LOT Polish Airlines A regular visitor around those times it became EX-601 with National Paints.
