Hilton Garden Inn LHR T2

This newish hotel is situated at the T2 MSCP, and accessed by the level 2 walkway out of T2. This means its closer to the southerly runway, but has views all around. I paid £79 room only, which isn’t bad, and its of a very high standard.
My room (1061) had a view of the southern runway, and the hotel has 14 floors, shaped like a triangle, and for spotting you will need to be above level 6. The rooms numbered 26 – 32 (+ the floor number) will give eastward views across T2 stands.
As an extra bonus, the hotel has a rooftop bar, with indoor and outdoor seating, offering food and drink. Non-residents are required to spend a minimum of £25 to use the facility. On the negative side, it only opens at 3pm, so you can’t spot all day here. The terrace faces north, but views of the cargo and southerly runway are good. Drinks prices are typical London, so expensive to get lathered!!
As an alternative, this is a great hotel, although not ideal for photographers, due to its position. This isn’t a problem, as most shoot from the runway ends at LHR. Shots of taxying aircraft will be possible, and you won’t miss any movements from the roof. Its ideal if you are using public transport, as the Tube and Bus station are next door, and if you are driving, then an expensive MSCP stay awaits!!
