Leeds Bradford July 2020 - Richard Bowater

With news that Jet 2 was about to start flying again we decided to go and see the parked Jet 2 737s at Leeds Bradford. Also on the agenda was fish and chips lunch from Murgatroyds just along the road at Yeadon.

We tried to spy G-JRXI Bell 505 on the A658 near Pannal golf club but it is too well hidden by trees and not a good distraction from watching the duffers driving at 40 in the 60 limit... Next was Coney Park, only G-GRZZ R44, with the thought of lunch we didn’t stop.

The fish and chip restaurant car park was in a state of chaos as a delivery van driver had decided to block the one way system. I parked up and watched the developing mayhem. With lunch onboard we ventured up to the moor, I haven’t visited Leeds for some years and realised the entrance to the moor is now gated and locked so we moved onto the next track near the golf course and parked there.

The new Great North Air Ambulance Dauphin was in the circuit and Cessna 206 G-NIME departed that was it for movements during our visit. N928SK SR-22 was parked up by the hangars.

EI-DHE 738 of Ryanair was parked at the terminal and presumed to be active. There were sixteen Jet 2 737s parked, six 300s were listed and G-GDFO,FK,FM and FT were noted. The rest were 800s and G-DRTA,TC,TD, GDFY and JZBI,HP. The list for the day had seventeen but only sixteen were present. G-TKHE Pa 28 was parked up on stand 2 at the terminal. It’s a long time since light aircraft have parked over there.

With the fish and chips declared as nice as ever we departed for home, unfortunately G-GRZZ had departed Coney Park so escaped from a photograph.
