Heathrow Spotting Hotel's - "The Renaissance"   17/08/20   Dave Rose

I had some business meetings in Surrey, so decided to give this "Spotters" hotel a try, to compare with the T4 PTI where I normally stay. Rates are cheap at the moment, for obvious reasons!! and I paid £89 for bed and breakfast, in a "spotters" room. The hotel is situated towards the east end of 27R, just west of the piano keys, and has an unrestricted view towards T2, with only the car park and a road between the hotel and 27R.

Spotters rooms are on the 3rd floor (top) in the main block, I was in 3224, but anything from 3200 to 3234 would be fine. Room standard is 5 star, with all mod cons, and 2 panes of glass of which 1 can be slid open, so photos are OK. Light is at its best after 3pm as you are facing south.

Entry is via the old A4, where most hotels are situated, and car parking is £15 for 24 hours. Restaurant, bar and lounge are excellent.

Views from the room -

LHR is running at around 30 - 40% capacity, with lots of BA parked around the field. They are back using both runways, but dont change over at 3pm as normal, they stay all day. To summarise, I enjoyed the stay here, very good facilities, and OK for shots. Ideal for number crunchers as nothing is missed, especially with electronic help.

There are still decent visitors though, here are some of them - (click to enlarge)
