Farnborough International Airshow 17/7/18 Dave Rose
This years show looked interesting so I sorted a trade pass and planned to be "down south" at some point during the week. Last time I had entered the show at 5pm and got decent shots as the crowds had left, this time I planned a visit first thing for a change. I had stayed at LHR the night before so left at 06:15 and was one of the first in the car park, a quick bus ride later and I was at the western end of the show at 06:45!! My ticket was checked before getting on the bus, and this saved some time.
The "Cargo Village" was my first call and managed a few decent shots in nice light of the AN124, and 2 Boeing 748F's, before moving towards the main stands happily clicking away without any crowds. The airport continues to operate before and after the flying display, so logging of the Biz on the north side was done whilst moving along the flight line.
Highlights for me were the Mitsubishi MRJ, this was due to take part in the flying display but was clipped on the nose whilst positioning to a stand and had a plaster on it!! Also the HondaJet and the Air Italy 73M were nice although the 73M was in a difficult place for a shot, as is the case with some exhibits. The first Boeing 789 for Biman was also very tasty, along with an Australian Dornier 328.
It took a couple of hours to get everything, and I was on the bus back to the car park (Alone!!) by 08:45, the driver looking very puzzled. All in all, a varied amount of visitors, along with over 40 northside Biz in the book.
As I dont bother with military and pond hoppers, I have copied a link to the checklist HERE
