A Definitive Timetable

As a new project and just a bit of fun, we're going to take a look at which variations of each type of airline operation was the definitive example of its kind from Teesside. The eventual goal based on our findings is to build two fictional timetables, one "idealistic" ignoring operator/aircraft availability and a second "realistic" to see how much of the first might be achievable in the current marketplace, providing of course this can be done without breaching our no-conjecture policy.

Judged on longevity, consistency and balance, here is the definitive low cost programme.

• Despite their arrival in October 2003, the bmibaby base didn't open until May 2004 and anything prior to this can be found in the independent section at the bottom.

Low Cost Routes (based)

It goes without saying that summer 2006 represented the definitive low cost programme, at the time it felt like it worked well, but looking now there was scope for further growth and if not for politics a third aircraft must have been just around the corner. Winter 04 marginally pipped winter 05 due to a slightly better mix of destinations. Like many I think back to the days of bmibaby and feel a sense of mourning, but creating this page I didn't realise just how badly missed routes like Cork, London Gatwick and Paris are, to name just some, and Jersey at the correct capacity. As such, I've decided to highlight the definitive frequencies of each route for both summer and winter, although only the definitive seasons make the definitive timetable.
