Exercise Jaded Thunder 2016
Exercise "Jaded Thunder" with flying due to take place 13-15th & 18-20th July between 1000-1600 over Spadeadam, Otterburn and Catterick ranges, a deployment of 8x A10C from 442FW at Whiteman AFB are based at RAF Leeming for the duration . C17's will be bringing support equipment, troops, staff & helicopters, we will try and update info as and when we can, please feel free to report any movemets / pictures to add. Other aircraft taking part are AC130 Hercules op from Mildenhall, AAC AH64D, RAF Chinook, USAF JSTARS & F15E. Also, click here for an interesting forum post on the mystery C-32B from the same day. We expect the departures to be between 22-26th July
21/07: On Wednesday 20th (the final day of the exercise) at around 1340 the RAF Police arrived at the viewing area and at the request of the Station Commander invited everyone there onto the base, where they were allowed to observe and photograph from a footpath next to the ATC tower, as a thank you they all held a whip-round for a charity of his choice. This is one of the kindest acts I've heard of and despite not being there we would like to extend a massive thank you to RAF Leeming for such a nice gesture and a massive well done to the spotters for showing their gratitude in such a great way. Faith in humanity restored!!
The A10's are using a HAS site, but some are being left out over night. The A10's started flying after 1pm on 12th callsigns used so far "Boar, Trest, Tusk and Hog" and the AH-6's flew as "Varment 61"
