Feb 20 - An early reminder for a night out to put in your diaries. Durham Police Special Branch have a room booked at the St George Hotel for the evening of the 20th June, a Monday night. They have two speakers, Cleveland Police Air Support Unit and the “Prevent” side of Special Branch. 'Prevent' is part of the Government’s strategy to tackle terrorism.  It start at 19.00hrs, so if you can plan to arrive from 18.30hrs onwards, I am sure it will be an interesting night and a chance to get together for a few drinks as well.

Feb 16 - Taxiway 'Juliet' has been withdrawn from service due to the deteriorating surface condition.

Feb 09 - Some good news. Weston Aviation have seen a 100% increase on January 2010 in executive and private traffic during January 2011 at DTVA. More private operators are turning to Weston Aviation to provide executive handling whilst visiting the North East, proving excellent service does bring in the customers. Well done to all at Weston Aviation.

Feb 01 - KLM Cityhopper are to drop the KL1537/8 for Summer but are replacing it with a new lunchtime KL1535/6 service. KL1535 will arrive at 1305 & depart at 1345. KL1533 moves forward to a 0840 arrival & departs at 0920. All services will still be operated by Fokker 70s.

Dec 23 - Updated passenger figures for November thanks to David Brown, but for the first time in ages, an actual increase of 12% compared to November 2009 rather than the usual decreases. This is due to the new winter Thomson flights, as in numerical terms it amounts to around 1500 extra pax. Lets hope for a continued trend, load figures for Nov now added thanks to Rob Smith.

Dec 23 - Yahoo is to completely revamp the Yahoo Groups & although it's not rolled out across their whole network yet, our DTV Movements group has received this new format. Nov 16 - Good news - Thomson released their Winter 11/12 schedules last week & we've kept everything from this year. Also, Ryanair was for a time showing the Alicante route as being 5x weekly next Summer, although it's yet to be confirmed as returning.

Oct 25 - A request from Special Branch at the airport, some people that requested ID cards still haven't collected them, if you are one of those people would you please give them a call on 01325 332061 to arrange collection. Please collect your card if you haven't done so, a lot of work and effort went into obtaining them, it won't help our cause in the future for any other schemes or a renewal of this one if they have to throw away a number of them, which will happen if they are not collected within 3 weeks. Thanks.

Oct 25 - IMPORTANT - It has been brought to our attention that the Airport Services Team Leader (formerly known as Duty Manager) is receiving more and more calls from spotters who are asking not only about regular flights but also now about military trooping flights, this MUST stop. Firstly they are at work and have a job to do and DON'T want to be bothered by you, secondly you are endangering the advanced info that is posted on this site, then everyone will lose out, this is a REAL threat so the calls must stop now. Try and remember a few years ago before this website what it used to be like, mostly we knew when it was in or been and gone not when its due! if you want to go back to that keep making the calls!!!

Jul 02 - VANCOUVER Airport Services has agreed to buy a 65 per cent share in Durham Tees Valley Airport (DTVA) owner Peel Airports Limited. Peel Airports Limited will continue to own 75 per cent of DTVA, with the six local authorities owning the remaining 25 per cent. The Peel Group will retain a 35 per cent investment in Peel Airports Limited and a presence on the board and looks forward to the opportunities the strategic partnership with Vancouver Airport Services will generate. Jun 20 - Pax figures updated thanks to David Brown & now load factors from Rob Smith.

Jun 20 - Resident C152 G-WACT sent out a "Mayday" at 1255 due to engine failure and landed in a field near Runswick Bay. All occupants vacated the aircraft without injury. No further damage was caused to the aircraft.

Jun 14 - News from the Air ambulance raffle, unfortunately non of our tickets were winners, but thanks to all who helped raise money for a good cause. The Fire lads completed the 6000th mile Friday lunchtime, a day and a half ahead of the target. Final fund raising figure to be announced. 

Jun 10 - Holidays4u have added a 2nd Bodrum flight in peak Summer next year, provisionally on a Saturday morning.
This would have Onur Air visiting 5 days a week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat). See

Jun 09 - In addition to the info regarding the Dublin route dropping back to 5x weekly, it's now come to light that it will not operate throughout the Winter. Nor will Doncaster/Sheffield's.

Jun 09 - Emergency Services news - AS365 Dauphin II G-NHAB (has been re-registered from G-DAUF) is to replace B105 G-WAAN at Otterburn,  & like G-NHAA, it will be operated by them on behalf of the GNAA, although it appears G-NHAA is now fully owned by the charity. Expect it to visit from time to time. As already known, EC135 T1 G-NESV is to be replaced by a newer EC135 P2+, it is believed this will be registered G-CPAS, but subject to change. Either way, it's due for delivery around November/December.

May 22 - A new Airport Director has been appointed - Mike Morton will shortly take over at Durham Tees Valley Airport. He is currently in charge at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and will keep that job as well as running DTVA. On behalf of the local enthusiast/spotter community, we wish him the best of luck.

May 07 - Peel Airports have won their appeal against bmibaby for breach of contract & will now seek up to £12m in compensation for lost earnings. bmibaby will be appealing however, so it's not quite over yet. Link.

Feb 27 - We've restructured the Stats pages slightly, with the axing of Barcelona Girona, we decided it's no longer worth doing the Ryanair stats & have replaced this with a Helicopter stats page. We've also merged the UK & Foreign Bizjet pages & included Bizprops too. Finally, we've merged the Charters & Diversions In pages.

Feb 26 - Cobham News - G-COBI Be350 Super King Air (FL-424 Ex D-CFIA) was registered recently. The aircraft was noted in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Feb 25 - A new link has been added to the side bar, Ian McMaster has produced an excellent tie up for UK military mode S codes, first time I have seen it in this easy to use and understand format. You can see there is a pattern to most allocations with a few rogue ones dropped in, any updates as always would be appreciated to keep this up to date.

Feb 22 - St George Flight Training have vacated Hangar 3 East ready for the Great North Air Ambulance to move in during May after a new building is constructed for them where the billet huts currently stand. SGFT aircraft now reside on the apron outside H3W.

Feb 22 - Durham Tees Flight Training will soon be adding PA28 G-CEXO to its fleet, it is currently at Elstree awaiting delivery.

Feb 21 - The new GNAA Dauphin helicopter (G-NHAA) is now due for delivery on 1st March.

Feb 21 - Our report on 7th Feb of KLM F100 PH-OFL leaving the fleet appears to have been a little premature, it was actually only away for maintenance and returned to service 19th Feb.

Feb 18 - Police helicopter G-NESV is to be replaced by another Eurocopter EC135, G-POLA. It appears to be a brand new airframe.

Feb 12 - Aer Arann / Aer Lingus News - 4 Aer Arann ATR72-500's are to be painted into Aer Lingus colours soon for the joint Aer Lingus Regional operation, they are EI-REL (c/n 748), EI-REM (c/n 760), EI-REO (c/n 787) and EI-REP (c/n 797). The 3 Air Contractors ATR72-200's (EI-SLL/SLM/SLN) will cover for them on the current Aer Arann services.

Jan 20 - St. George Flight Training's aircraft and the other based aircraft in Hangar 3 East will vacate at the end of the month and move to H3W apron.

Jan 20 - Great North Air Ambulance will move into Hangar 3 East with their "new" Aerospatiale Dauphin at the end of February. Currently 
G-MLTY but awaiting re-registration to G-NHAA.

Jan 19 - New Routes! Thomson will bring back Tenerife for Winter 2010 as well as retaining Alicante & adding a brand new destination in the form of Sharm el Sheikh! Click here for press release.

Jan 06 - Note on last weeks diversions from Brian (Stato) Hunter - The British Airways A320 G-BUSH was indeed a first visitor, as was the Brussels Airlines BAe 146 - RJ85 OO-DJN.  The RJ85 by the way was our one hundredth different BAe 146 airframe to visit since the first one ( G-BKMN ) way back on 24 May 83 !! (Wow impressive fact - DA)

Mar 22 - Ryanair News - They are closing the MME-DUB route from the end of June.
Also EI-CSV withdrawn from service on 15th March. 6 more to go this year. EI-EBM/N/O all delivered in the last few days.

Mar 21 - The Northern Aviation Citation 550 was registered to them on 19/3, it was noted on an air test at Gamston the same day. There is a picture of it on the residents page in its "interesting scheme" (Thanks to Trev Smith at Leeds).

Feb 19 - bmi confirmed yesterday that they are pulling out of Durham Tees Valley and Leeds/Bradford, amongst other changes to their network. It looks like the last Heathrow service from here will be 28th March, however we haven't seen the last of them.

Feb 18 - KLM Cityhopper news - The Fokker 100s switch from the KL1539/0 to the KL1537/8 as of Monday (23rd Feb), after that they were supposed to be going onto the KL1533/4 but that appears to no longer be the case, meaning all Fokker 70s for Summer.

Jan 04 - Newcastle are having their runway resurfaced overnight between 2330-0545 Mon-Fri nights which means a full closure is needed. This will affect their Royal Mail flights as they usually arrive back between 0130-0230 and any late running daytime flights after 2330. They have an Atlantic ATP to Bristol, as well as Jet2 737-300's to East Midlands and Stansted, although the aircraft are expected to day stop they may depart some days if they are required for other flights.  This closure will continue until April 9th (Mon-Fri only).

Jan 02 - 2008 VISITOR AWARDS!! RYANAIR goes to Boeing 738 EI-DLF with 12 visits. FOREIGN BIZ goes to Global Express N287Z with 8 visits. Most visited UK BIZ goes to BD100 G-KALS with 9 visits. Top IT visitor was that lovely A321 from Onur Air TC-OAL with 16 visits and the final award goes to WIZZ AIR with HA-LPJ taking the honours with 9 visits before they decided to find somewhere cheaper!!

Dec 15 - We often get e-mails from not only the UK, Europe but from all over the world asking for info or following up on our trip reports, from our Arizona trip in Feb we have made friends with a few enthusiasts from that area, one in particular owns a Grumman Albatross and is currently restoring it in one of the AMARG scrap yards. To add to the AMARG report there is now a photo diary showing the aircraft's progress that will be updated till the day it takes to the air. I am sure if anyone is over there in the next few years Sean will be more than happy to show you around the aircraft. Click here to see the pictures.

Dec 12 -  bmi news - An E135 will replace the E145 on the LHR runs between February and March, an odd move since the E145s are reportedly full? Looks like it's something to do with peak travel season from Jersey since that route is being upgraded to an A319?

Dec 06 - The Ryanair Stats page has been updated with the delivery dates for the next ten aircraft now the Boeing strike is over. The race is on to be the most visited Ryanair 737 in 2008!! EI-DAC, EI-DCE and EI-DPT  have all visited 10 times. Who will be the winner!!

Dec 04 - Airline casualties - European Aviation Air Charter went bust on Monday, with Flightline following on Tuesday. On the brighter side their demise is keeping other airlines going thanks to the extra work that becomes available.

Nov 1 - KLM are giving B737s PH-BDA/C/D/R  to Cityhopper soon - they were due to come out of service and go elsewhere but they're going to Cityhopper to help out with the serious problems they're having with the F70s and F100s! Believe the first one is in the paintshop now. I read on one forum that Cityhopper had 22 aircraft tech at once one day! That's the reason behind all the delays/cancellations recently.

Oct 17 - A ''Mayday'' was heard at 1615 on Friday by a local aircraft, believed to be coming from the Whitby area, local light aircraft / Police 28 / G-FRAS & Sea King Rescue 128 went to search the area. An oil slick was reported in the sea 3 miles SE of Whitby. Police 28 reported on his way north at 1739 that wreckage had been found at sea near Robin Hoods Bay. At 1740 2 Sea Kings from Leconfield were continuing the search, on Saturday the body of a male was found near the wreckage. The aircraft was a based Tomahawk (G-BOLF ) aircraft from Teesside. Our thoughts are with the pilot and his family. (BBC article, Northern Echo article, Evening Gazette article).

Sept 7 Airline News - Futura are to suspend all flights for 24 hours tomorrow after it filed for administration, it has until Sept. 12 to outline its financial situation, financial reorganisation and safety plan to the transport ministry, which will then decide whether to pass, suspend or revoke its flying licence.

Aug 28  Globespan bad luck continues. A baggage handler is reported to have caused up to £1 million of damage when he crashed his loading truck into the side of an aircraft at Edinburgh airport. He slammed into G-SEFC Boeing 737-700W as the crew were preparing to depart to Alicante. He ripped a 5ft gash in its side, leaving the aircraft grounded for at least three weeks.

Aug 21 Work on the new A67 Roundabout & infrastructure for the Skylink Business Park has been delayed, work will now not start until 1 Dec 2008 and last 9 months, this is only the roads, drainage and fencing works any further work on buildings etc will start when this section is completed..

Jul 30   Holidays4U have added a second Onur Air flight to Dalaman during peak time next summer (should make three Dalaman flights total, with one Bodrum). OHY4505/6 will operate on Tuesday evenings with the current OHY449/450 becoming OHY459/4504 operating Wednesday nights.

Jul 29   A round of applause to everyone who turned up at DTVA today to see the F-16s leave - it was a huge turnout considering the 'lack' of Sunderland Air Show movements this year, there were at least 11 people at 4 locations at one point. Well done for showing such good support despite the difficult times!!

Jul 24   Work on a new roundabout on the A67 and 3km of road as well as site infrastructure to the new Skylink International Business park is planned to start on 6 September 08 and last for 9 months.

Jul 22   The airport management as expected have failed to secure the Sunderland air show traffic, only four F16's (Dutch & Belgian) and the Dutch AB412 will use the airport

Jul 13   Rumour - PPRuNe are reporting that bmibaby may be returning to MME with ops to Jersey on a "W" pattern from EMA/BHX.

Jul 13   Iberworld have cancelled all flights until further notice, it now routes to Glasgow.

Jul 12    KLM news - they have another Fokker 100 out and about, PH-MJL ex Mandarin Airlines on a 5 month lease. Also extra Fokker 70's from Regional as follows - PH-KZS (ex F-GLIS) PH-KZT (ex F-GLIT) PH-KZU (ex F-GLIU) PH-KZV (ex F-GLIV) PH-KZW (ex F-GLIX) - All expected October

Jul 10  Bagby resident PA-28 G-BPXJ has taken up residence in H3E, not sure if it is temporary or permanent?
