Images From The Past - Page 7 - additional info from Brian Hunter.

Boeing 737-200 G-AVRM Britannia Airways first operated into Teesside 22nd of January 1979. The flight in question being BY 033B/A f/t Palma in the late afternoon it did make many subsequent visits to the airport. It was delivered in August 68, the aircraft remained with Britannia until Jan 86, it became N312XV and N198AW, though this was short lived when it was damaged beyond repair after overrunning the runway at Tucson, AZ in Dec 89.

Bristol Britannia G-ANBE Britannia Airways,  delivered in March 1956, the aircraft was broken up in July 1972 at Luton. G-ANBE of namesake airline Britannia visited 23rd May 1970 f/t Munich around breakfast time - I believe subsequent flights op just after midnight.

Handley Page Herald G-BDFE British Air Ferries, first delivered to Canada as CF-EPC in Oct 63, it served with BAF between 6/75 and 2/87, it was sold as 9Q-CAA and broken up at Kinshasa in March 87.

Vickers Viscount 806 G-AOYR British Air Ferries first delivered in April 58, it remained on the British register all its life until it was scrapped at Southend in 1996.

BAC Concorde G-BOAF British Airways, pictured in December 82. The aircraft operated a charter f/to LHR plus a local flight on 11th December 1982 which included time at mach 1 and mach 2 on its way towards the Arctic Circle - a memorable flight in every way. (of the 3 Concorde visits, BOAF was used twice and BOAD once). The aircraft is now preserved at Bristol, Filton.

Hawker Siddeley Trident 3B G-AWZS ex British Airways arriving on its last flight to take up duties with the CAA Fire Training School at the airport on 12th March 1986. The sixth Trident for the school, it was the first mark 3 to arrive.

Boeing 707-338C G-BCAL British Caledonian, an ex Quantas aircraft it operated with BCAL between May 75 and Dec 79, before being sold as LV-MZE, it was eventually broken up at Miami,FL. The aircraft was operating a cargo flight to Abu Dhabi via Belgrade on the night of 21/22 /Feb/1977. Inbound from Tripoli, in the early evening of the 21st it loaded with 19 tonnes of cigarettes from Rothman's new Darlington factory, departing just after midnight on the 22nd.

BAC 1-11-509EW G-AWWZ British Island Airways, first delivered in April 69, it has worn this reg a few times in it's life, it left the register in Nov 94 to become ZS-NMS, it was stored at Lanseria,SA in June 2001 until June 2005 when it was scrapped.
