Corfu holiday 3rd - 17th June 2011 - Aidan Williamson

Newcastle  3/6/11

Only aircraft of interest: LN-WDH Dash 8-402 Wideroe.

Routing was passing East of Teesside, continued south to the Wash, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Cologne, Frankfurt, passing south of Munich & Salzburg (UL603?) Zagreb, Dubrovnik , Kerkira.

Corfu 3/6/11:

On arrival, the only passenger aircraft present were Thomson B757-204 G-BYAP (our flight) & Thomson B737-804 G-FDZB.
From the arrivals hall I was able to read off the following parked in the “long stay” biz park/ military apron:
PH-MYX Ce 650
SX-BMK Ce 550
D-ICAC Ce551 (originally logged at Corfu on 17/6/05 so may be semi-resident?)
OO-SAV Ce560 XL
PP-FJA EMB Legacy 650

Our hotel was in Dasia (Dassia) and northerly departures with a procedural left turn passed over the resort , but I was only able to log one aircraft from the hotel during our stay: B737-700 LX-LGR, & identified a couple of others from their unique colour schemes (i.e G-EZUI, all orange Easyjet A320)

The best spotting location for movements at Corfu is the Royal Hotel Cafe overlooking Pontokonisi , (Mouse Island) and in an elevated position right next to the threshold of runway 35. The Hotel has been closed for a few years but the cafe remains open and offers food & cold (or hot) drinks, plenty of seating in or out of the sun and there are usually other European spotters there.
