Lockheed L1011-100 Tristar G-BBAE British Airtours, delivered to British Airways in Oct 74, it was leased to British Airtours on 21 Apr 85 until it was transferred to Caledonian Apr 88, following a few sub leases to Worldways as C-FCXB it now retired and stored at Abu Dhabi Int. It visited on 13th Feb 1987 - already a veteran of some 38 visits with British Airways during 1974 and 1975 its visit this time was in connection with the Schools Abroad ski programme to Salzburg.

Boeing 747-136 G-AWNE British Airways. The aircraft was delivered to BOAC in Feb 71, and then BA in Apr 72, it remained with them until Dec 99, it is now registered to Kabo Air as 5N-RRR, if it's still flying is anyone's guess. G-AWNE diverted in from Heathrow on 11th December 1981 as BA295 from Miami G-AWNE became Teesside's second B747 visitor (g-AWNN being the first see below) Both 747's were diverted in because of freezing fog across the whole southern England and both remained at Teesside 24 hours each.

Boeing 747 G-AWNN British Airways, was delivered in Nov 73, it remained in service until May 99, when it was retired and stored at Roswell,NM. It arrived with G-AWNE on 10/12/81as BA128 from Dharan via Brussels, both Heathrow diversions they both stayed overnight and departed the next day. This was the first visit to Teesside by a Boeing 747

Hawker Siddley Trident 1C G-ARPR ex British Airways  was originally delivered to BEA Feb 65 they merged with British Airways in April 74 and it remained with them until it was retired and became the second inmate of the CAA Fire Training School seen here arriving from Heathrow on 16th September 1981.

CF-116  Freedom Fighter 116712 Canadian Air Force, one of four aircraft (116716, 116740, 116758) made a visit to Teesside on 22 April 1987, along with them were Silver Stars 133345 and 133094 and  a Hornet. This aircraft is now preserved with Canadian Air Sea and Land Museum at Markham, Ontario though stored as a hulk only. THE influx of Canadian military aircraft which descended on Teesside on 22 April 87 were from 419 (Moose ) Squadron at Cold Lake, Canada on exercises at Baden-Sollingen in Germany. 419 Squadron was based at Teesside ( MSG ) during WW2 and the chance for a few pilots to see the squadrons old haunts was too good to miss, The Hornet was from 421 Sqn but the pilot was ex 419 and he had another 419 guy in the back seat ! On departure the Hornet went tech causing a 24 hr delay and requiring a couple of visits by Hercules  130320 from Lahr to sort out the trouble

CT-133 Silver Star 133345 Canadian Air Force, this aircraft served with the 1 CAD at Baden-Sollingen in Germany, it is now a gate guard at Greenwood,NS and carries 133434 as false marks.

CF-188A Hornet 188918   Canadian Air Force visiting on 22 April 1987 with the above Freedom Fighters, the aircraft is still in service today operating from Cold Lake,AB

Boeing 707-349 G-AWWD  Caledonian/BUA, originally delivered to Flying Tigers as N325F in Feb 67, it was leased to Caledonian/BUA from Jan-Dec 69. and then sold to British Caledonian in Apr 71, it's had three Angolan registrations and is today stored at Luanda as D2-TOJ. The aircraft  is pictured on its only visit to Teesside arriving from JFK New York on 26th October 1969 with CA1422 early in the day

L1011 Tristar G-BBAE Caledonian, delivered to British Airways in Oct 74, it was leased to British Airtours on 21 Apr 85 until it was transferred to Caledonian Apr 88, following a few sub leases to Worldways as C-FCXB it now it had another spell with Caledonian from April 90 it is now retired and stored at Abu Dhabi Int. The Tristar had been here prior with BA, this time in Caledonian colours it was visiting Teesside on 17 Feb 91 operating  a trooping charter to Cairo.
