Images from the past page 1                Big thanks to Richard Bowater, Aidan Williamson & Brian Hunter for additional Information.

We have been given some images going back many years of visitors to Teesside Airport, these images are for viewing on this site only, please don't copy someone else's images. The task now is to try and date the pictures. The pictures have been scanned and are obviously not up to the standards of today's digital camera's but are intended to be viewed as nostalgia and a reminder of what has been here in the distant past, see what you can do!

Ilyushin IL-18E SP-LSG LOT, Wizz aren't the first to operate a service to Poland, these were regular visitors in the late 70's this particular aircraft made 21 visits between March 77 and July 80 ferrying contract workers to/from Warsaw. There were almost 100 IL-18 flights and all of the LOT IL-18's visited at some point. This aircraft was sold by LOT in 1991 and is currently flying as UN-75002 for Mega Aircompany.

Bristol Britannia 5Y-ALT African Safari, looks like it's having an engine change. Steve Barnes noted the aircraft along with Comet ST-AAW in the hangar on 16 March 74, click here for a log of what else he saw on the day

Bristol Britannia 5Y-B African Safari

VFW-614 F-GATG Air Alsace, I saw this aircraft at Teesside on 10/11/78 it arrived from Troyes and departed to Le Bourget, not sure if this shot was taken on that date or not, the aircraft was eventually withdrawn and scrapped at Bremen in 1980.

Fokker F-27-200  PH-FIL Air Anglia, taken in 1972, the aircraft made its first visit on 28th August 1972 and operated a few Norwich - Aberdeen trial flights, the service started proper on 1st November 1972 mornings Northbound and afternoons southbound.
